MOM'S VILLAGE VENTURE (EMPLOYER PROJECT)
The main purpose of our group’s employer project is to create a Domestic Violence Education Kit for survivors and public. #RingARingRoses is the name of this employer project organized by Moms village venture. Mom's Village is a social enterprise launched in 2018 with the purpose of helping disempowered women to achieve financial independence, resulting in a higher quality of life and generational equality for all (Moms village, 2021). Hence, my groupmates who consist of Nicholas Tan, Megan, Sveathan and I from group 7, decided to create a booklet to educate the public. This is because we felt booklets are convenient to pass a lot of useful information, graphics, and statistics that survivors and public should know. Also, we hoped that this booklet would be one of the steps to reduce domestic violence.
Unlike the other booklets, the booklet we created is quite flamboyant and very resourceful. First of all, we used simple words only from the beginning and until the end of the page to create this educational kit where a 12-year-old student also able to read and perceive information straightforwardly. We reckon, awareness should be implemented from young to adults. Secondly, there Is no a fixed theme colour set to our booklet because we wanted our booklet to be colourful and also to be infographic format where it includes lesser words and more educational images. This is because, since our target population is starting from 12-year-old, we aimed to attract their attention and bring the urge to read until the end. Besides that, we have included some motivational quotes that related to domestic violence. This is because there might be some readers who actually can through such a situation. Hence, we believe this motivational quote will boost their energy and confidence in order to fight for their freedom and rights. Moreover, checklist also one of our unique sections in our booklet. Checklists included such as checklist for symptoms of domestic abuse and checklist for safety planning. Checklist for signs of domestic violence is very significant especially for those who are going through because it provides details and explanation for every sign, thereby awareness is created. Also, checklist for safety planning provided is to give reminder, a way of prioritizing tasks and schedule everything that needs to be done so that not even a single item/plan is missed. Lastly, we have given some spaces at the end of the page. People can be used as notes or journal. We highly recommended them to write a journal about they feel at the moment or write down their problems. This is because journaling helps to acknowledge and control their symptoms and improve their mood by helping them prioritize problems, fears, and concerns; tracking any symptoms day-to-day so that they can recognize triggers and learns way to better control them and lastly provide them an opportunity for positive self-talk and identifying negative thoughts and behaviours.
